Once again a big thanks to everyone who supported our March 20th action at “Di Fi’s” office. On Monday we appeared at the Airport Court House at 8:30a.m. After several hours and a visit to the city attorney’s office, we were advised that we would all receive letters in the mail regarding the disposition of our case.
I was disappointed that we were not brought to trial so as to enter a plea of “Not Guilty by reason of Sanity in the Insanity of war” (my words)
In truth it is clear this is another attempt to silence the anti war’s voice.Prosecution would only draw more attention to everyone’s efforts over the past three years. It would be easy to become depressed in those respects, however it is encouraging to know that our efforts are not in vain, indeed every action, standing each week at a corner, signs in hand, in protest of this monstrosity called war, those elected in a broken process who continue to fund the war machine’s needs, while ignoring the rights of all peoples everywhere, they have an effect.
The silence of vigils, flag draped coffins pushed against doors in protest, portraits held of lost children, sons, daughters, mother’s father’s, difficult to pronounce names, read aloud with dignity, honored with black shrouded coffins, they had an effect. So effective it was that “disclaimer statements” were issued, “If only you had made an appointment” . . . and now the quiet disposition of our cases, civil disobedience, our right, your right to dissent, quietly very quiet now . . .oh yes Virginia, those actions had an effect.
Some of us will continue to go about our work joining in with others as we meet them along the way, standing shoulder to shoulder, walking hand in hand, lifting our voice’s together “no more, no more war” where ever there is a war, against our brothers and sisters here and abroad we will be there . . .
